Late John Garang Demabior, First Vice President of Sudan, chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, and the Commander in Chief of Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) was assassinated in 2005 aboard a helicopter that was chartered by dictator Museveni.
According to air-crash investigation, it was found that altimeter of the helicopter was tampered with in order to endanger the craft and the SPLA using global positioning systems established that the helicopter crashed down inside Uganda not Sudan as Kampala claimed.
Garang had come to Uganda to demand a huge cache of arms belonging to the SPLA which the Ugandan ruler had confiscated seeking to give them to UPDF. Initially, dictator Museveni acted as a friend to the late liberation leader, but awkwardly started to stab him in the back until he hatched a plan to eliminate him.
Records have it that at the time of Garang’s demise, inept despot Museveni had been in constant talks with anti-dinka people from Nuer ethnic group who did not want John Garang to rule South Sudan. They went into close collaboration with the ruler of Matooke Republic to eliminate him in exchange for some lucrative oil deals. If we say that dictator Museveni is a regional cancer that is what it means.
