One of the people who had put too much trust in deceitful Museveni was none other than Maj. Gen. James Bananukye Kazini. The former gallant soldier of UPDF was murdered in November 2009 by Special Forces Command (SFC) unit under the coordination of Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence – with the greenlight of cold blooded murderer Yoweri Museveni. 

Prior to his death, Kazini had become disgruntled with the regime, mostly due to its ferocity in the killings of its own children. Specifically, Kazini who had fought so hard in Kisangani wars and lost so many of his soldiers, could not understand why inept despot Museveni still wanted so many people dead, just to nurse his ego. Why did so many die merely for criticizing his regime?

Kazini was tricked into thinking that he had the support of colleagues by discrediting the dictator. But it was a trap by the Museveni’s ruthless hitmen. They set up him – a valiant soldier that had sacrificed so much – and killed him. His body was then dumped at the house of Lydia Draru, his rumored girlfriend.

Later the dictator’s propagandists put out a lot of unfounded allegations, to justify Kazini’s murder. But only gullible would trust Museveni’s version of Kazini’s death whom the regime lied that he had been “killed by assailants hired by his mistress.” A decade later his family is yet to receive justice.
