It has been a number of days since social media exposed the deplorable state of Mbale barracks that houses 944 police officers, with at least 175 children and relatives. But it never ceases to amaze! These line houses were constructed between 1954 and 1964, and were not supposed to house more than 300 people. Now, with old tiles falling off the roofs, decayed ceilings collapsing, and cracks running through the walls, broken doors and windows, and backyards running with raw sewage, there are zero signs that anyone will do any repair work! In Museveni’s Uganda policemen live like dogs!

But that is the reality for all that work in the Matooke Republic’s security agencies.

Over 36 years since Museveni aka Kagutema rode to power with the help of his guerrilla fighters, he has never valued the lives of his soldiers, let alone police officers. Instead, he enthroned corruption and embezzlement. 

The former bushman lets members of all his security live in ramshackle houses or “mama ingia pole” while he snores his old age away in State House. Kagutema is too greedy and self-centered, and basic infrastructure means nothing to him as long as his hands rest in the national treasure.

He is the same tyrant who once said that he lit up a fire in the middle of a rainforest, with delusional thought that ancestors would associate and protect him. Unfortunately, for him, the ancestors said “Kagutema tumukooye, bamwongele ecupa”. 

We know that soon national security personnel living in this sorry state will mutiny. Like they say “he who kills by the sword dies by the sword.” Kagutema, witchcraft won’t save you, you are on your own and mutiny is coming!
