Under dictator Museveni, the health system of which he destroyed himself has never been his priority, except when there are funds to loot, basically Covid-19 relief funds.

The despot’s incompetence lies in misplaced priorities. As of today, billions of Ugandan Shilling are being wasted on funerals (read Oulanya’s), sham campaigns and splurging on his interests or anything unnecessary while healthcare workers’ lives are in shambles, however much they have risked their lives to save fellow Ugandans when cases were skyrocketing on a daily even when they did not have PPEs in hospitals.

Desperate medical workers’ plight started last year in November 2021 when they were conducting strikes to be paid. The issue caught the public’s attention and when MPs were voicing it out, they were rather being gifted cars and allowances to silence them as Museveni always does. Healthcare workers, instead, were being fired and promised to be paid but here we are, and nothing has been done ever since but rather being fired from work.

Not only did the pandemic expose tyrant Museveni’s corrupted mind, it also revealed how the man’s world revolves around himself. Be it pandemic or not, Ugandans are not one of his priorities.
