In a letter by Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Ministry sent to Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on the 3rd of this month, criminal despot Museveni’s junta informed the UN that their services in Uganda are no longer needed.

Obviously, the end of the OHCHR mandate in Kampala has nothing to do with positive records Vis a Vis human rights as observed in the kingdom of criminal despot Museveni; it is a typical opposite of what has been happening.

The closure of UN rights office is the last nail on the coffin of accountability in Uganda under the misrule of chief rights violator, bloodthirsty despot Museveni. A reminder that since grabbing power in 1986, Uganda has never had a repulsive and repugnant human rights record as it is today.

Under despot Museveni, Uganda has become nothing but a pariah state with no rule of law where accountability is a myth. Millions of Ugandans since his ascension to power have been subjected to endless abductions, arbitrary arrests, horrible torture, illegal detention, endless imprisonment and extrajudicial killings.

Many times, rights groups, whether domestic, regional and or international like OHCHR have been into back and forth fighting with tyrant Museveni to end his gross human rights abuses in vain. As usual the dictator would meander around with unreasonable justifications, but it wouldn’t take long before he shows his real character.

Just recently, despot Museveni’s Attorney General, Kiryowa Kiwanuka shocked everyone at the UN committee against torture last month in New York, when he said that “Uganda does not condone the violation of human rights. Kiwanuka lied that all victims of the November election violence “were compensated in a dispensed fair justice.” What an embarrassment, how can one’s death be compensated? What a cruel regime!

The closure of OHCHR in Uganda is nothing but an open testimony that despot Museveni will commit as much bloody crimes as he wants and he will walk away with it as long as nobody can hold him to account. Typical bloodthirsty tyranny!
