The 11th Regional Oversight Mechanism Peace Summit in Bujumbura will yield nothing as usual if the cancer of the region, criminal despot Museveni does not stop taking DRC as his playground, where he kills and loots as he pleases.

While despot Museveni is one among many problems of DRC, it should not be ignored that Congolese are equally guilty as charged. They are responsible for their misery and should suck it up and fix their self-inflicted pain.

President Tshisekedi himself needs to get his hands dirty and stop scapegoating Rwanda. He should do so by divorcing genocidal groups like FDLR and allies, creating a professional army that can tackle hundreds of armed groups roaming his country, and attending to his citizens’ demands- especially those in the East.

There can be as many summits as possible in DRC, but nothing will ever bear fruit if criminal despot Museveni remains deeply rooted in DRC. The despot thrives in chaos and violence and Congo is his perfect playground.
