Museveni’s kangaroo courts award a miserly Ugx 50 million for a boy killed in November massacres

Last week, the High Court in Kampala ruled in favor of Hajara Nakitto, whose son, Ssegawa Amos, was murdered in cold blood by regime operatives during the November 2020 protests. Amos was only 15 years old at the time of his extrajudicial killing.

Justice Musa Ssekana, a stooge judge working under criminal despot Museveni’s bloody instructions, ruled that 15-year-old Ssegawa was shot by a stray bullet and his family was eligible for a compensation of Ugx50 million ($13,000)- contrary to the family’s demand of close to Ugx210 million ($54,000).

In disdainful remarks, the judge further argued that the family of Amos Ssegawa could not be awarded the exact amount of demanded reparations simply because it was illogical to have much expectation from a 15-year-old human being. You can imagine what the future holds for Uganda’s future generations!

This a reminder that Ssegawa was shot on the 19th of November 2020 when he was busy helping his mother run business errands in Namasuba, Makindye-Saabagabo Wakiso district. That very day regime operatives went on a rampage, killing 300 innocent citizens, incarcerating thousands, and sending others into enforced disappearance.

In a sheer act of shame, criminal despot Museveni came out and praised his ‘commandos’ for a job well done! He would later claim that more than half of those who died were killed by stray bullets and promised that they would receive ‘compensation’. As usual, it turned out to be another lie and false promise! To date, there has been nothing – except attempts to silence vocal victims.

One would not be naïve to say that what happened on those two days was not an isolated case in the history of Uganda. Bloody ruler Museveni commissioned the killings of the Kasese people after they protested the injustices extended to them. He did the same in Luweero when people refused to join him, even more so on the day he killed hundreds of people at Rwenzururu.
